Miley Cyrus’ love for fiancé Max Morando is anything but paper-thin.
As it turns out, the drummer helped her with an unusual fear that had plagued the “Flowers” singer for decades: paper phobia. In fact, fear even affects her ability to get into the festive spirit.
“Christmas, I’m known as a little bit of a Grinch because I’m anti-Christmas,” she told Jimmy Kimmel during a Dec. 4 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “For me, the real problem with paper is that people’s hands are dry and they’re touching paper, but it’s Christmas and it’s cold and everyone’s hands are dry and they’re touching paper.”
But the fear extends beyond Christmas, with the roots of the phobia going back to childhood, where Miley, who was teased by her siblings for rubbing paper together, admitted it was affecting her “day-to-day life”.
“I feel bad when someone receives an Amazon box, because cardboard is the worst,” she said. “It’s very dry and has packaging inside.”
Thankfully, Maxx saved the day. “That’s really why I got engaged,” she joked. “Because I just let my fiancé go outside and unpack everything.”
