Kate Middleton and Jessie J’s emotional moment bonded over cancer
Jesse J and Duchess Kate have royal ties.
The ‘Price Tag’ singer detailed her decision to break royal protocol and hug the Princess of Wales after her Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall last month, revealing that she chose to hug the Duchess of Wales despite being “explained not to”.
“I saw my mom out in public, who also went through cancer, and I just wanted to give her a hug,” Jessie said on This Morning on Dec. 3. “It was as simple as that. I didn’t see her as the Princess of Wales. I obviously did and I respected her.”
The “Bang Bang” singer, who revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer in June, revealed that she asked Kate’s permission before hugging her.
She explained, “I said to her, ‘Can I hug you?'” And she took it. ”
Jesse recalled telling Kate, who announced in early 2025 that she was in remission after her own battle with cancer, “I just said, ‘I’m impressed.'” “I know the days she’s probably been through, and I just wanted to hold her. Mother to mother, human to human.”
