Miley Cyrus isn’t going to let anyone take a wrecking ball into her privacy.
The “Flowers” singer broke her silence after her engagement to Max Molland was confirmed on Dec. 2 after four years together, admitting she was “surprised” that the couple had kept most of the details from the public eye.
“The details I can share are, for us, our privacy and keeping it small is actually something I was surprised to be able to have,” Miley explained to People in an interview published on Dec. 2, “and now we’re able to have more options.”
And the 33-year-old partly credits her age for allowing her to set boundaries when it comes to her romance with Max, 27. As she says, “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more protective of what I’m open to sharing.”
It’s not the only aspect of their relationship that she’s proud of. For Miley, whose divorce from Liam Hemsworth was finalized in 2020 less than two years after her home was destroyed in California’s Malibu fires, meeting and falling in love with Max in 2021 proved she was capable of “starting over” and “building again.”
