I never went on a trip to see The Upside Down: Stranger Things, but my kids are really grown up.
Nine years after the sci-fi drama debuted, its long-awaited fifth season is finally here, and it promises to be an epic final farewell, not to mention an emotional one.
And while Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin and the rest of the show’s all-star cast have spent nearly a decade telling the story of telekinetic teen Eleven and the young friends she meets in Hawkins, Indiana, their own lives have evolved just as much.
First, Millie, who was just 12 years old when the Netflix series premiered, went from child star to self-parent when she and husband Jake Bon Jovi adopted a baby girl over the summer. And while the couple, who married in 2024, shared the joy of parenthood in August, they are keeping their newborn out of the spotlight for the time being.
“If one day she chooses to share her individuality with the world, like I did when I was younger, that’s something we support,” Millie, 21, said in an interview with British Vogue on Nov. 5. “But now she’s so young that it’s our job as parents to protect her from things like that.”
