It’s been a minute since the Desperate Housewives star lived on Wisteria Lane, but then she found a new address IRL.

“I’ve spent my entire adult life here,” Eva told Marie Claire in November 2024 about leaving Los Angeles. “But even before[the pandemic]happened, things were changing. The atmosphere was different. Then COVID-19 happened and things reached breaking point. Whether it’s homelessness or taxes, I don’t want to blame California. I feel like this chapter of my life is over now.”

Therefore, in recent years, the actress, her husband José Bastón, and their son Santiago have been splitting their time between Mexico and Spain.

“I’m blessed,” she continued. “I can run away and go somewhere else. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

However, Eva pointed out that her actions were not about President Trump’s re-election.

“I’m not leaving because of the political environment,” the Flamin’ Hot director said on the podcast The View: Behind the Table in November 2024. “I left because that’s where my work took me, ever since Woman’s Country. I shot six months in Catalonia, four months in Mexico with Looking for Mexico, and then I went back to Spain. I’ve been there for years now, so I don’t like how it’s been politicized.”

Since her move, Eva has remained busy, with recent projects including roles in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.
