After receiving criticism for promoting a sex toy company on social media, Loomer addressed all the shamers.
“What I thought was really interesting and I wanted to bring up was a lot of the comments I saw were, ‘Oh my god, you’re a mom,'” she said in an Instagram Stories video in August. “‘Don’t show me those intimate moments. First, breastfeeding, and now this.'”
“We are in a culture where feeding children in public and talking about female pleasure and female sexuality is highly frowned upon,” she added. “When you post about something or just have a casual conversation about it, people’s reactions are visceral.”
Instead, Loomer emphasized the importance of having these conversations because “we can take away some of the shame around us.”
“As someone who has a daughter, I think the idea of putting any kind of shame on her, forcing her to discover herself sexually, or putting a taboo on her, is despicable,” she said. “I want Lou to be able to love her body and be able to share it or not share it with anyone.”
