First the Oval Office, then the East Wing, and now the Lincoln bedroom bathroom.
President Donald Trump on Friday proudly showed off his latest projects in the interior and exterior renovations of the White House, even as critics called him “tone-deaf” for touting flashy renovations during a costly government shutdown.
President Trump shared 20 photos of his newly renovated bathroom, which is now covered from floor to ceiling in what he described as “polished black and white statuary marble.”

“This is very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln, and may in fact be the marble that was originally there,” Trump wrote in one of seven Truth social posts that included photos of the renovation.
The bathroom has gold fixtures and accents, including bath and sink faucets, wall sconces, and a trash can, as well as a crystal hanging chandelier, according to photos.
President Trump told NBC News in July that he plans to renovate the bathroom in the historic Lincoln Bedroom in a style more faithful to the era of the 16th president, who served from 1861 until his assassination in 1865.
Trump wrote in a post Friday that the previous decoration was an Art Deco green tile style that was “totally inappropriate for the Lincoln era.”

President Trump’s Democratic critics blasted construction updates, accusing him of focusing on restroom renovations as the government shutdown enters its 31st day and threatens access to vital federal services.
“Donald Trump actually cares more about toilets than he does about improving health conditions,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D.N.Y.) wrote in an X post.
“Millions of people are locked out of food aid, and millions can no longer afford health care. But don’t worry, folks! Trump got a new toilet,” Democratic commentator Harry Sisson wrote on X.
“It’s so tone-deaf, so out of touch, so disgusting,” Sisson added.
“We are in a deep government shutdown, but instead of negotiating, President Trump today posted several photos of his WH bathroom renovation, and this time it’s this one,” wrote Ron Filipowski, editor-in-chief of the anti-Trump media outlet Meidas Touch.
Asked to respond to these criticisms, White House Press Secretary Davis Engle told CNBC, “Democrats are more concerned about President Trump’s historical glorification of the White House than they are about the American people who are being hurt by this reckless government shutdown.”
In another Truth Social post on Friday, President Trump announced that he had inspected construction at the Kennedy Center, where he had fired several board members and replaced himself as chairman months earlier.
“Looking really good!” he wrote. “The outer pillars, which were at risk of corrosion if left as they were, have now been completed and are now covered in white enamel. It looks like a completely different place!”
“The marble has been completed, the stage has been renovated, new seats, new chairs, new fabrics will be installed soon, and luxurious, high-end carpeting will be installed throughout the building,” Trump wrote.
The update came hours after The Washington Post reported that Kennedy Center ticket sales have plummeted in recent months.
