Difficulties with Jamie Lynn Spears
Britney says she went to rehab voluntarily in early 2019, at which time she wrote, “My dad told me if I didn’t go, I’d have to go to court and I’d be embarrassed.” She remembers being prescribed lithium and being kept there “against my will” for months.
“I couldn’t go outside,” she continues. “I couldn’t drive. I had to donate blood every week. I couldn’t take a bath by myself. I couldn’t close the door to my room.”
Britney texted Jamie Lynn Spears from the facility, asking for help, she wrote. According to the book, her sister’s response was, “Stop fighting. There’s nothing you can do about it, so stop fighting.”
Britney felt betrayed and wrote, “I couldn’t understand how Jamie Lynn and our father were able to have such a good relationship. She knew I needed help…I felt like she should have been on my side.”
In early 2022, the brothers publicly sparred over Jamie Lynn’s memoir, Things I Had to Say.
Jamie Lynn “rushed out sordid stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous,” Britney reiterates in her book. But she concluded that she loves her sister, adding: “I’m trying to have compassion for my sister and for people who I feel have wronged me, rather than anger. It’s not easy.”
Eh! News has reached out to Jamie Lynn for comment. She told E!’s Daily Pop in 2022 that she and Britney “go back and forth, but at the end of the day, the love and support is always there.”
