A Russian attack on the Odessa region on Friday night killed eight people and wounded another 27, according to Ukrainian authorities, as the Russian government continues its attacks on the Black Sea port city.

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Services Agency, the deaths occurred as a result of a Russian missile attack on port infrastructure facilities in the town of Pivdenne.

Some of the victims were said to have been on the bus that was hit by the shelling.

Russia has been conducting continuous attacks on Odesa for the past nine days, resulting in a week-long power outage in the city and surrounding areas, and damage to port infrastructure and civilian shipping.

Russia has focused on crippling Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as winter sets in, and in recent months has been able to hit more targets by firing a combination of hundreds of drones and missiles simultaneously.

In addition, two important bridges connecting the northern and southern parts of the Odesa region were also damaged, and work to repair the damage is underway, according to Odesa Regional Military Government Director Ole Kipel.
