‘Top Gun: Maverick’ actor James Handy allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend’s son
Tragedy has struck Hollywood.
James Handy, who starred in movies such as “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jumanji,” was stabbed to death in Los Angeles on the morning of June 3, and the suspect has been identified as Michael Gledhill, the son of his girlfriend, according to Los Angeles police. The actor was 81 years old.
Police said West Valley area patrol officers responded to a 911 call around 9:30 a.m. in which the caller said, “I just killed a son of man, a man who committed a crime.”
“When officers arrived, they found 81-year-old James Handy unconscious in the front yard of a residence with a stab wound to his chest,” a June 4 Los Angeles Police Department press release said. “The victim was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect is 44-year-old Gledhill, who lives in the Tarzana area of Los Angeles.
“The suspect called a nearby responding officer and indicated he was the person he was looking for,” the release continued. “The suspect lives at the scene with his mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend. Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and there does not appear to be a danger to the public at this time.”
