Castle’s 21 points and Wenban Yama’s 19 points led the Spurs to a 133-95 victory over the Timberwolves, giving the Knicks a 2-0 lead over the 76ers.

The host San Antonio Spurs dominated the final three quarters en route to a 133-95 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, with Victor Wembaneyama scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to tie the Western Conference semifinal series at one win apiece.
San Antonio dominated the sixth-seeded Timberwolves in the second quarter, turning an opening seven-point lead into a 24-point advantage at halftime Wednesday.
Julien Champagnie hit four 3-pointers on the night for all 12 of the Spurs’ points, increasing their lead to 98-63 after the third period.
From there, San Antonio ran to the basket and extended its lead to as many as 47 points.
The Spurs were led by Stephon Castle with 21 points, De’Aaron Fox with 16 points, Harrison Barnes with 12 points, Dylan Harper with 11 points, Devin Vassell with 10 points and Keldon Johnson with 10 rebounds. Wembaneyama made two 3-pointers, but was just 2-of-15 from behind the arc in the series.
No. 2 seed San Antonio hasn’t lost in 49 games since Jan. 11 against Minnesota and Jan. 13 against Oklahoma City.
Wenbanyama said of the difference between Game 1 and Game 2, “We felt the intensity from the beginning. We crashed the offensive boards early, scrambled for the ball, and made passes to the open man.”
“Obviously we’re going to continue to double down on the things that worked and some things that didn’t work. We’re going to erase them. (Minnesota) is an experienced team. We know they’re going to respond. … I love the way everyone was supporting everyone. It seemed like a system that worked well.”
Game 3 of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Friday in Minneapolis.

Knicks lead 76ers 2-0
Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson scored eight of his 26 points in the fourth quarter for the New York Knicks, who stopped the Philadelphia 76ers late in Game 2 to win 108-102 and take control of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Knicks lead the best-of-seven set series 2-0. Game 3 is scheduled for Friday night in Philadelphia.
“I think it’s more of a challenge because we’re down 0-2 after a come-from-behind win in the first round,” Sixers coach Nick Nurse said. “We’re 1-1 after two games (against the Boston Celtics in the first round), right? So we’re 2-0. It’s definitely a big part of this next game, but that’s fine.”
Karl-Anthony Towns had 20 points and 10 rebounds despite playing just 27 minutes due to foul trouble, and the Knicks closed out the game with a 12-3 run that included 14 ties and 25 lead changes.
OG Anunoby, who limped off with a right foot injury and left the game with 2:31 remaining, scored 24 points, Mikal Bridges added 18 points, and New York won its fifth straight overall. The Knicks’ average point differential over their last four games was 33.8 points.
“He looked like he was jumping up and down,” Knicks coach Mike Brown said of Anunoby. “I haven’t talked to a medical provider yet.”
Tyrese Maxey scored 26 points for the 76ers, but he only scored 12 points on 4-of-19 shooting in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia took the lead for the final time at 99-96 on Kelly Oubre Jr.’s 3-pointer with 6:52 left, after which the Sixers went 1-of-10 from the field with two turnovers.
“It came down to who could get more stops in the fourth quarter,” Brown said. “I know we held a team like that to 12 points and we missed some shots, but to only score 12 points in the fourth quarter is huge.”
Oubre and Paul George each finished with 19 points. VJ Edgecomb had 17 points.
Joel Embiid of the 76ers missed the game due to ankle and hip injuries.
Philadelphia will host Games 3 and 4 on Saturday and Sunday.
