The Trump administration has cancelled nearly $8 billion in funding for climate-related projects in primarily democratically controlled states, the highest administration officials said Wednesday.
The move comes hours later by the same official, executives and Russell Vert of the Budget Office, revealing that the Trump administration has frozen around $18 billion in federal funds for two major infrastructure projects in New York City.
“Around $8 billion has been cancelled in Green’s new fraud funds to fuel the climate agenda on the left,” Vought wrote in a post on social media site X.
“More information from @Energy,” Vought wrote, referring to the U.S. Department of Energy.
Vought said projects affected by the decision will be in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont and Washington.
In the 2024 election, President Donald Trump lost these states to President Kamala Harris, a Democratic candidate who lost at the College of Elections.
