Lauri Markkanen scored 33 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and the Utah Jazz defeated the Dallas Mavericks 116-114 in the NBA, ending their losing streak at five games.

Keyontae George had 19 points and seven assists for the home team Thursday.

Cooper Flagg led the Mavericks with 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, and Klay Thompson had 23 points.

Dallas led 107-100 with 4:39 left, but Utah responded with a 16-4 run to take a 116-111 lead with 29 seconds left.

Markkanen completed 14 of 26 games this season with seven rebounds and four assists for Utah, which won its first two games against Dallas.

The Mavericks committed 20 turnovers and lost for the fifth time in their last seven games.

Meanwhile, Pascal Siakam scored 18 of his 30 points in the first half and fired the winning shot, and the Indiana Pacers ended their losing streak at 13 with a 114-112 victory over the host Charlotte Hornets.

Collin Sexton’s potential game-tying shot went wide at the last second, as the Hornets lost in the final seconds for the second night in a row. Siakam scored on a go-ahead drive with 11.5 seconds left. He made 12 of 23 shots with three 3-pointers and also grabbed 14 rebounds. Off the bench for the Pacers, TJ McConnell had 23 points, Aaron Nesmith had 16 points and Jay Huff added 10 points.

LaMelo Ball scored a game-high 33 points, helped by seven 3-pointers, in his first game off the bench since his rookie season (2020-21). Miles Bridges finished with 19 points, Con Knuppel with 18 points and Sexton with 11 points.

For Minnesota, Julius Randle had 28 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists to help the home team defeat Cleveland.

Jaden McDaniels scored 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting for the University of Minnesota, which won its fourth straight game. Anthony Edwards had 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting, and Rudy Gobert had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 30 points on 10-of-20 shooting, but Cleveland suffered its second loss in the last three games. Added 8 assists. Sam Merrill scored 22 points off the bench, and Jarrett Allen had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

Edwards became the third-youngest player in NBA history to reach 10,000 career points at the age of 24 years and 156 days. The only players to completely defeat him were LeBron James (23 years and 59 days) and Kevin Durant (24 years and 33 days). Edwards is one of seven players to score 10,000 points by the age of 25, a group that also includes Kobe Bryant, Luka Doncic, Tracy McGrady and Carmelo Anthony.

“It’s cool to be honest, but I know there’s still a lot of work to do, so it’s really nothing,” Edwards said after the win. “I felt a little sick in front of Kobe. I should have waited about 100 days, but I’ll be fine.”
