Matthew Perry’s mother Suzanne Morrison condemns assistant’s actions in heartbreaking letter

Matthew Perry’s mother Suzanne Morrison has many regrets.

Chief among them is the family’s confidence in Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s assistant at the time of his death in 2023, who later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine in connection with the Friends star’s death.

In a victim impact statement filed and obtained by E! News on May 21, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said prior to Iwamasa’s sentencing that Iwamasa’s “most important job” was to act as Perry’s “comrade and protector in his fight against addiction” with the aim of getting him “drug-free.”

Instead, Mr. Iwamasa repeatedly helped give Mr. Perry ketamine, including on the day of his death, which Mr. Perry admitted to doing as part of his plea deal with the Justice Department.

“Instead of protecting Matthew, he aided and abetted the taking of illegal drugs, arranging one source and then another,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison wrote in the letter. “He shot drugs into Matthew’s body, even though he was completely unqualified to do so. He did it even though he could see, for everyone to see. It was obviously dangerous. And he did it over and over again.”
