Thea is facing a new legal battle with Dan Barnard.
Amid divorce proceedings, the “Cheap Thrills” singer’s estranged husband has filed for sole custody of their 19-month-old baby boy, Summersault “Sumi” Wonder Barnard, according to documents obtained by E! News for October 28th.
Mr Dunn, 47, claimed in his filing that Thea, 49, was suffering from drug addiction and was unfit to care for their toddler, who was born in March 2024, less than a year before they announced their divorce after two years of marriage.
“Thea is an immediate and serious danger to our son,” Dunn wrote in the filing, alleging that she “deliberately and repeatedly concealed” that Thea was hospitalized for two weeks in September. “She tested positive for barbiturates and benzodiazepines, but there was no valid medical explanation.”
For reference, according to the Cleveland Clinic, benzodiazepines are a type of sedative-hypnotic drug commonly found in anti-anxiety drugs such as Xanax and insomnia medications such as Klonopin and Valium. Similarly, barbiturates are sedative-hypnotics commonly used to treat insomnia and prevent seizures.
Not only is Dan demanding sole custody due to his ex-girlfriend’s alleged drug use, the lawsuit also alleges that Shia violated the joint custody agreement by denying him access and “unlawfully” transferring Sumi’s written power of attorney to the nannies.
