Rob Reiner’s son Nick Reiner attends first trial after murder
Nick Reiner’s courtroom journey has officially begun.
Three days after Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle Singer Reiner were found dead in their home, their son made his first court appearance charged with murder.
The 32-year-old appeared in court in Los Angeles on December 17, accompanied by attorney Alan Jackson. According to MS NOW, during the hearing, Nick and his defense team made no excuses regarding the two charges of first-degree murder, which include the special circumstances of multiple murders and use of a deadly weapon.
According to People, Nick arrived at the hearing wearing a blue suicide smock and shackles.
Bail was not granted, and Nick’s arraignment hearing is scheduled for January 7, at which time he will likely enter a guilty or not guilty plea.
If he is ultimately found guilty at trial, Nick’s charges carry a “maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty,” Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hockman announced at a press conference on December 16, but added that “no decisions regarding the death penalty have been made at this time.”
