12. Despite all the excitement, Williams-Paisley believes the movie changed her entire life – including being introduced to her real-life husband, Brad Paisley. In 1991, the future country star was still an aspiring musician, and for her, “It was like their movie,” Williams-Paisley told E! news. Still, the 18-year-old singer had a hard time concentrating on anything other than the insanely attractive actress she saw on screen.
Four years later, newly single and feeling a little sad, he returned to the theater for Father of the Bride Part II and found himself captivated by the star once again. “I thought she was a great girl. She’s smart and funny and all of those things are so hard to find,” he told Good Housekeeping.
He went on to write songs about his movie-going experiences on his 2001 album Part II. And at that point, he told the magazine, “It felt natural to ask her to be on the show, even though I didn’t know if she was married, divorced or just in rehab.”
The actress was nothing like that, but she was intrigued. “He woke up one morning and wanted to call me, and I said okay because I’m not interested in anyone,” she recalled to Meredith Vieira. “And we started dating and got engaged shortly after that.”
It’s a story they shared once or twice after their ultimate encounter. “It’s funny, when I tell him how we met, he’s like, ‘Oh, this happened. I was dating this girl and blah, blah, blah,’ and that’s all about how he saw me in this movie,” Williams-Paisley told E! news. “And my version is, ‘Oh yeah, he was stalking me, so it was easier to just go ahead and marry him.'”
