President Donald Trump threatened on Sunday that Iran must “move on” or face new consequences.

“For Iran, the clock is ticking. If we don’t move quickly, there will be nothing left,” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “Time is of the essence!”

President Trump did not provide details about what the specific consequences would be or what he expected Iran to do to avoid it.

The United States and Iran have been at loggerheads in negotiations to end the war since reaching a tenuous cease-fire agreement in early April. The United States continues to blockade Iranian ports, while Iran has closed off the Strait of Hormuz since the start of the conflict.

But this apparent threat is not the first time President Trump has threatened Tehran with harsh words on social media. Ahead of the ceasefire in April, he warned that unless Iran yielded to American demands, “an entire civilization will perish tonight, never to rise again.” He has previously threatened that attacks on Iranian power plants, bridges and other civilian infrastructure could amount to war crimes.

Closing the strait, an important oil transportation route, has dealt a huge blow to the economy. oil Global prices soar, U.S. gas prices soar According to AAA, the national average price of gasoline in the United States on Sunday was $4.51 per gallon.

The United States has called on Iran to abandon its nuclear program and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran is demanding compensation for war damage, an end to the blockade, and an immediate end to hostilities, including in Lebanon.
