David, the daughter of Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Larry David, revealed much about her two-and-a-half year romance with Davidson in her 2020 essay book No One Asked For This. The pair first started dating in 2016, with David writing that they “hit it off”. But she acknowledged that Ms Davidson’s mental health issues were taking a toll on her.
“Before, self-harm and suicide threats were coming from trivial situations that could go from zero to 100. They were very instantaneous and urgent. It was like the last moments in an escape room before time was up, except I was the only one in the room and all the clues were tricks,” she recalled. “Once he got back to his normal head, I didn’t have the energy to do anything like that. I was mentally exhausted and couldn’t do anything else other than mentally recover from the chaos of the previous week.”
In a moment of weakness, David tried to reconcile with Davidson after their relationship ended during a family vacation in 2018. However, she was shocked when he later sent her a text message informing her that he had taken the next step.
Two days later, she took to Instagram and wrote that her ex-boyfriend had “uploaded a photo of himself covering his face with his hand to show off his new finger tattoo.” “My name, written in cursive on his ring finger, was covered in black ink.”
