Sequoia-backed AI design startup Visual Electric said it was taking part in today’s search startup stump. On its site, the company noticed that the team will be joining Perplexity’s new agent experience group.

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas confirmed the acquisition in a post from X.

The terms of transactions have not been disclosed.

The startup said it will shut down Visual Electric as a product in 90 days as part of the transition. Users will add that they can export data and subscribers will receive a proportionate refund.

Visual Electric was founded in 2022 by former Facebook Dropbox employee Colin Dunn, former Apple employee Adam Menges, and former Microsoft engineer Zach Stiggelbout. The tool aimed at designers allows users to use AI to create images and apply edits to endless canvas.

The idea was to have the designer construct ideas and concepts on a whiteboard. Over time, the company also added support for video generation. The startup raised $2.5 million in funding from Sequoia, BoxGroup and Designer Fund.
