Microsoft The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription price has been increased by 50% per month to $29.99.
The $10 Spike comes with numerous changes to all GamePass plans, but its key and premium plans remain the same price as $9.99 and $14.99, respectively.
The Game Pass Core Tier will no longer exist and will be caught up in the Essential Tier instead, but the standard subscribers will move to the premium tier.
“As we continue to evolve our Xbox Game Pass, we focus on delivering more value, more benefits and even more great games on every plan,” the company said in the release. “Whether you play on console, PC, cloud or all three, there are game pass options designed to suit your playstyle.”
The new Ultimate Tier is $359.88 per year, with premium tier $179.88 per year and Essential Tier $119.88 per year.
In comparison, the PlayStation Plus Premium’s highest tier is set at $159.99 per year, with an additional tier of $134.99 and an Essential Tier of $79.99.
Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have access to over 400 games and more than 75 days of releases each year, with over 45 new titles added on Wednesday.
Ubisoft+ Classics joins the Ultimate Tier and offers a selection of Ubisoft games, including “Prince of Persia: Lost Crown” and “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.” Users will also see streaming quality improvements of up to 1440p and new rewards programs.
Premium subscribers get an expanded library of over 200 games, while Essential Tiers receive over 50 titles. Both get unlimited cloud access. This was previously only available in the Ultimate Plan.
Microsoft previously reported a record 34 million Game Pass subscribers in 2024, reporting nearly $5 billion in total revenue for the last fiscal year. According to game data, games accounted for 8% of the software giant’s total revenue in 2025.
The growth of the game has been supported in 2023 when Microsoft Landmark acquired Activision Blizzard, a $75.4 billion video game publisher.
However, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S still struggle to compete Sony‘s playstation 5 and the Nintendo Switch 2.
The company reported a decline in console sales in 2025, with Xbox hardware revenue falling 25% last year.
Some Xbox consoles are seeing price increases in the US for the second time since October this year. Series X and Series S will increase to $699 and $399, respectively.
