Martha Stewart, Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow share their honest thoughts on becoming lifestyle experts
Martha Stewart doesn’t play around with fancy titles.
The cookbook author’s grandchildren, Jude Stewart, 14, and Truman Stewart, 13, call her by her first name.
“They’ve called me Martha since the day I was born,” the 84-year-old said on the Nov. 30 episode of QVC+’s “50+ & Unfiltered” podcast. “And all their friends call me Martha. Nobody calls me Mrs. Stewart. I’m not Mrs. Stewart.”
And the reason has to do with Martha’s only child, Alexis Stewart, who adopted Jude and Truman through surrogacy.
“My daughter calls me Martha,” Martha explained. “She always calls me Martha.”
In fact, the tutor considers herself and ex-husband Alexis more “friends” than mother and daughter.
“I’d rather be a grandma,” Martha said, explaining that her relationship with Alexis had some rocky moments that led to their current relationship. “Even now.”
She added of her daughter, “We’re very different. I’m an extrovert and she’s not.”
