Dina Powell McCormick, a member of President Donald Trump’s first administration, has resigned. meta board of directors.
Powell McCormick, who worked at Goldman Sachs for 16 years, notified Mehta on Friday of his resignation, according to an SEC filing. The filing did not give a reason for McCormick’s resignation from the Meta board, but said her resignation was effective immediately.
Mr. Mehta has no plans to change his role on the board, said a person familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity to protect confidentiality. Powell McCormick is considering the possibility of taking on a strategic advisory role at Meta, but nothing has been finalized.
Powell McCormick joined Meta’s board in April, along with Stripe co-founder and CEO Patrick Collison. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement at the time that the two executives “bring a wealth of experience supporting businesses and entrepreneurs to our board.”
Powell McCormick served as Vice Presidential National Security Advisor during President Trump’s first term and also served as Assistant Secretary of State in the administration of President George W. Bush.
She is married to Sen. Dave McCormick (R-S.C.), who took office in January.
Powell McCormick is vice chairman, president and head of global client services for BDT & MSD Partners, which was formed in 2023 through the merger of commercial bank BDT and Michael Dell’s investment firm MSD.
Her departure leaves Mehta’s board of directors with 14 members, including UFC CEO Dana White, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan and former Enron executive John Arnold.
