We have news regarding Bruce Campbell’s health.
The “Evil Dead” star said he was diagnosed with “a type of cancer that is ‘treatable’ rather than ‘curable’.”
“I’m sorry if this shocks you, but I was too,” Bruce wrote in a statement shared on March 2nd on X (formerly Twitter). “Good news, I won’t go into any more detail. I’m posting this because as a professional, I have to change some things. My appearance, my shortcomings, and my work in general need to take a backseat to my treatment.”
The 67-year-old, who called his cancer battle an “opportunity”, said his plan was to “get as healthy as possible over the summer”, which resulted in him declining several scheduled appearances at fan conventions.
“I am very disappointed,” he continued. “The need for treatment and professional obligations are not always compatible.”
Bruce explained that he was not disclosing his diagnosis to “gain sympathy” but “to be proactive in case false information leaks,” and assured fans there was “no need to fear” his condition.
“I am Abunai’s tough old son and have great support,” he added. “So I think we’ll be together for a while.”
