A beloved doctor is missing at Pittsburgh Trauma Hospital.
Season 2 of The Pit saw Tracy Ifaker’s character noticeably absent from the emergency room, and Dr. Denise Whitaker (Jaellan Howell) finally explained where her character, Dr. Heather Collins, had gone in episode 4, which aired on January 29.
When Whittaker treats his patient Louis (Ernest Harden Jr.), he informs him that Collins has completed his training and has taken a job in Portland as his attending physician. More interestingly, the resident said Collins “adopted a baby” and moved across the country to be closer to family.
Features last appeared in the penultimate episode of season 1, during a conversation with Dr. Michael “Robbie” Robinavich, played by Noah Wyle, who seemed to imply that her character had an abortion years earlier while in a relationship.
“At that time, I wasn’t ready to be a mother. I wasn’t sure about our relationship. I didn’t say anything to him,” Collins said through tears. “I was scared of everything, but the main reason was that he would hate me for being selfish.”
But Robbie assured her the decision was not “selfish” and told Collins her ex-girlfriend “wants you to forgive yourself”.
