Although his brother Jared Kushner’s marriage to Joshua Kushner, who is married to President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, has unintentionally drawn him into political controversy, he admits that he has learned how to navigate family relationships during such politically charged times.
“Well, I know who I am,” the model told Bloomberg Originals in an interview published July 1. “I know the values that guide my life and the issues that I care about. So, you know, I haven’t lost sight of who I am, which is also my husband’s family.”
Regarding whether she had ever discussed politics with the president, Carly said, “I have never met President Trump.”
But as she and Joshua gather with the rest of her brother-in-law’s family, the 33-year-old, who grew up in Missouri, said she’s already used to navigating potentially rocky waters.
“We’re sitting here in St. Louis, a blue dot in a red state,” she reflected. “Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been exposed to different political viewpoints, and I think that’s trained me in life. You know, I’m a Democrat.”
