Isaac underwent an eight-hour surgery in January as part of his fight against cancer. The following month, Danielle gave an update on Isaac’s health.
“Officially we are at stage 3, but documents say we are on the verge of stage 4 due to the speed and aggressiveness of the infection,” he said on Instagram. “So even if the visible cancer is removed, it is very likely that it is still present under the microscope, and we will have to make some difficult decisions soon. Because of some of the complications associated with Fanconi, treatment options for Isaac are much more limited than for typical childhood cancers.”
Danielle said in April that Isaac’s cancer “continues to progress and his energy levels are very low.”
“While we are currently in the midst of a short course of palliative radiotherapy to slow the growth of a large mass under his right eye, we have transitioned to an overall comfort-oriented approach with him,” his father added. “He now has a hospice team to manage his pain and we are doing everything we can to make sure he lives as happy and peaceful a life as possible.”
