Claire Foy talks about her five-year battle with parasites

Claire Foy has had to deal with years of royal pain.

The Crown alum recently revealed that she gave up caffeine several years ago under a strict diet she put on to deal with what she called “uncomfortable” stomach issues.

“I had a parasite,” she admitted on her podcast Table Manners, before adding, “It’s terrible. I shouldn’t have brought it up.”

But as presenter Jesse Ware became curious, Claire revealed she thought she had picked up a hitchhiker with gastroenteritis in Morocco.

“I kept losing weight, but I didn’t know what was going on,” she explained. “Anyway, I was really hungry after eating everything.”

“I had this condition for quite a while,” she said, before doctors finally identified the problem. “The doctor said it will take at least five years and we will travel in pairs.”

Why did the 41-year-old quit caffeine in the midst of the parasite’s “absolute status” discovery?

“I basically had to stay on this diet,” she explained. “And I didn’t want to take strong antibiotics for that, so I took all these things and did all these terrible things, and part of it was cutting out caffeine.”
