Anthropic and Microsoft in talks about Maia AI chip deal

microsoft is in talks to supply custom artificial intelligence chips to Anthropic, CNBC confirmed Thursday.

Dario Amodei, the company’s co-founder and CEO, said at an event earlier this month that Anthropic is “having a hard time with computing.”

This year, the company’s Claude Assistant and Claude Code tools for AI-assisted programming have grown in popularity, making Anthropic’s need for computing power even more acute.

On Wednesday, SpaceX said it would pay Anthropic $1.25 billion a month for computing power through May 2029.
