AMD announced Thursday that it will invest more than $10 billion across Taiwan’s semiconductor and AI ecosystem to improve chip production and performance.

Taiwan is the center of the semiconductor industry because Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd.is the world’s largest chip manufacturer, producing products for some of the world’s most valuable companies. Nvidia to apple.

AMD is benefiting from continued heavy spending on AI infrastructure and aims to increase competition from rival Nvidia, which reported explosive profits on Wednesday and whose stock has doubled so far this year.

“AMD is working with strategic partners in Taiwan and around the world to advance cutting-edge silicon, packaging and manufacturing technologies that enable higher performance, higher efficiency and faster deployment of AI systems,” the company said in a press release.

The investment will focus on partnerships with companies to “advance” chip packaging and manufacturing needed for next-generation AI infrastructure.

AMD said it could collaborate with Taiwan-based ASE and SPIL on areas such as technology to link chips together to improve performance efficiency.

The company says these innovations are designed to support the rollout of its AI server system, Helios, in the second half of 2026.

Sanmina, Wiwynn, Wistron, and Inventec are among the companies AMD has named as partners to help build Helios.
