Shenzhen List Lux Shale Shares jumped about 10% on Monday following reports that Chinese device assemblers had signed a contract with OpenAI to produce consumer AI devices.
The company is also a supplier appleusing ChatGpt’s large language model, we are already developing prototypes for the device. This was reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the issue.
According to one source, one of the products Openai spoke to its suppliers resembles a smart speaker with no display, which could potentially compete with Apple devices using SIRI, targeting the launch of the first device in late 2026 or early 2027.
LuxShare’s 10% jump increased profits from the start of the year to around 50%. Most stocks on the Deep Shenzhen Stock Exchange are not permitted to trade above and below 10% in a day, compared to the previous day’s closing price. The company is also reportedly considering a secondary list in Hong Kong this year.
Luxshare and Openai did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Openai has long shown its desire to push it into a dedicated AI device, presenting potential challenges for Apple and its iPhones.
As part of these plans, information reports that Openai has poached Apple staff to join the hardware division led by former Apple executive Tang Tan.
Earlier this year, the AI company led by Sam Altman joined forces with former Apple designer Jony Ive after purchasing hardware startup IO products for a $6.4 billion deal. ive is responsible for designing many of Apple’s most iconic products, including the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Air.
The Openai partnership with LuxShare brings Apple’s long-standing suppliers (responsible for assembling items such as AirPods and Vision Pro) to the AI Compony trajectory.
AI companies are also based in China GoertekIt also assembles AirPods, HomePods and Apple Watch to provide components that include speaker modules for planned devices, according to the information report.
Openai pushes the hardware deeper and hired former head of Meta’s Orion Extended Reality Glasses Initiative in November to lead the robotics and consumer hardware efforts.
In the same month, Openai invested in the physical intelligence of a robotic startup. This focuses on “bringing common AI into the physical world,” according to its website.
