Google I’m trying to catch up with Openai with generative artificial intelligence. It appears that they are ultimately gaining a position alongside the users.
Company Gemini App has won top spot among free apps Apple’s This week, App Store, Leap Frogging ChatGpt, kicked off the generation AI boom almost three years ago.
Google’s Gemini AI model has seen recent updates that captivated new users. Last month, Google launched an updated version of its “Flash” AI model called 2.5 Flash Image, with a new image editing feature called Nano Banana. This app allows users to blend multiple photos and use the prompts to create digital figurines of photos that the user uploads.
According to a social media post last week from Gemini App Head Josh Woodward, the product helped bring 13 million new users to the Gemini app in four days, bringing the total to 23 million since its launch. The user uploaded 500 million images to the app, the post said.
Woodward said in another post that his team must enact temporary use restrictions over the weekend after experiencing excessive demand.
As of July, when the company last disclosed the numbers, the Gemini app had over 450 million active users per month, CEO Sundar Pichai said in its second quarter revenue report.
Google’s increased consumer AI traction has also attracted investors’ interest.
On Monday, Alphabet became the fourth member of the $3 trillion club and joined Nvidia, Microsoft and Apple. Alphabet’s stocks are up 33% this year, compared to a 16% increase in the Nasdaq.
The company also received a boost earlier this month from a lucrative antitrust law that allows Google to maintain its Chrome browser.
