jet blue airlines The airline is overhauling its fare options in preparation for the launch of domestic first class seats, but there are certainly limited base options at the front of the plane.
JetBlue travelers start by choosing how much legroom they want and how luxurious their seats are.
The airline has an economy section (‘Main’), a section with seats with extra legroom that the company calls ‘Even More’ (which also comes with early boarding and priority airport screening), and a domestic first class called BlueFirst, which is expected to debut later this year. From there, customers will be able to select the following options for each class:
Basics: This is the lowest price. Carry-on baggage is included, but seat selection is not. Tickets are refundable as travel credits, but fees apply for changing or canceling reservations. Travelers earn 1 TrueBlue loyalty point for every dollar spent. Standard: Includes seat selection and no change or cancellation fees (but you must pay the fare difference). Travelers also earn 3 TrueBlue points for every dollar spent. Flex: All the options of standard fare, plus the perk here is that your refund will go back to your original method of payment.
The new grouping will see JetBlue eliminate the “core” fares it currently sells and place economy class options in the “main” category.
JetBlue’s LiFlat Mint Business Class will be used on long-haul flights, including cross-border travel and flights to European destinations such as Paris, London and Milan, and will only be available in Standard and Flex options.
JetBlue has fallen short of offering the basic lie-flat business options offered by its competitors. united airlines and delta airlines It was launched this year. These airlines are making similar moves to dismantle premium economy by offering different fares at the front of the cabin. United Airlines announced this month that it would charge a premium for obstructing middle seats on some of its planes.
JetBlue has not yet announced an introduction date for BlueFirst seats, but the change comes as airlines race to capitalize on high demand for more expensive seats from consumers looking for more comfort and perks on board. JetBlue is scheduled to announce results on Tuesday.
