“The Sick of It All” is grieving the loss of one of their own.
Lou Kohler, the hardcore punk rock band’s longtime frontman, has died after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer, his bandmates have confirmed. He was 59 years old.
On July 24, the band, which includes Kohler’s brother Pete Kohler, Armando Majidi, and Craig Setari, wrote on Instagram: “It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of our brother Lou Kohler to our dedicated families around the world. The sense of loss we feel at this time is immeasurable.”
“We have lost a beloved friend and iconic frontman,” the statement added. “Lou had the ability to lift the spirits of everyone at his shows with his smile and sarcastic comments, and wherever he performed, he attracted people from every culture and every corner of the world.”
Koller revealed in June 2024 that doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in his esophagus that had spread to his stomach. Following this heartbreaking announcement, The Sick of It All were forced to cancel their European tour while they underwent treatment, and the hardcore community rallied together with benefit concerts and fundraisers.
