Stocks with the biggest moves at midday: GOOGL, TSLA, AMZN, LUV

Here are some companies that are making headlines in intraday trading. Alphabet — Shares fell 6% after Google’s parent company raised its outlook for capital spending this year to boost its artificial intelligence capabilities. Alphabet expects to spend between $195 billion and $205 billion in 2026, up from its previous forecast of up to $190 billion. Amazon, Microsoft — Both hyperscalers fell as Alphabet raised its outlook for capital spending and investors worried about spending on artificial intelligence. Amazon shares fell 4% and Microsoft shares fell more than 2%. Honeywell Technologies — Shares soared 5% after the industrial giant raised its 2026 outlook for adjusted earnings per share and non-GAAP segment margins. Second quarter results also exceeded sales and bottom line expectations. Roper Technologies — Shares rose about 6% after the software company raised its full-year outlook. Roper expects adjusted earnings to be in the range of $22.15 to $22.30 per share this year, beating the FactSet consensus estimate of $21.91 per share. Southwest Airlines — The company’s stock fell more than 4% after the airline’s third-quarter forecast fell short of Wall Street expectations. DOVER — The industrial equipment maker’s stock fell nearly 8% after its second-quarter results failed to impress investors. Dover had adjusted earnings per share of $2.74 and revenue of $2.19 billion. Cleveland Cliffs — The company’s stock soared 20% after reporting better-than-expected second-quarter results. The Cleveland Cliffs lost 20 cents a share, excluding certain items, on revenue of $5.23 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had expected a loss of 21 cents per share on revenue of $5.15 billion. The company also announced better-than-expected third-quarter EBITDA guidance. United Rentals — Shares rose 11% after the equipment rental company raised its full-year outlook for revenue in the range of $17.5 billion to $17.8 billion, beating analysts’ estimates of $17.27 billion, according to FactSet. Second quarter profits and sales also exceeded expectations. Tesla — Shares fell nearly 14% after the electric car company reported a 142% year-over-year increase in capital spending. Second quarter profit was also lower than expected. Tesla’s free cash flow turned negative as profit margins came under pressure. Lockheed Martin — Shares soared 11% after the defense giant reported better-than-expected second-quarter results. Lockheed earned $7.94 per share on revenue of $20.06 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected sales of $19.34 billion and earnings of $7.19 per share. The company also raised its full-year profit forecast. Texas Instruments — The chipmaker reported second-quarter results that beat street expectations. Earnings per share came to $2.14, exceeding LSEG’s estimate of $1.93 per share. Revenue was $5.46 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $5.25 billion. However, the stock price fell 4%. Albertsons — Shares fell 22% after the grocery store chain reported significantly lower-than-expected first-quarter earnings. The company’s adjusted earnings were 42 cents per share, compared with analyst estimates compiled by FactSet of 54 cents per share. Albertsons also lowered its full-year profit forecast. Eli Lilly — The pharmaceutical company announced it will file for approval of its next-generation obesity drug in the first quarter of 2027 following successful results in two late-stage trials. In one study, obese adults with cardiovascular disease lost 55.8 pounds, or an average of up to 22.6% of their body weight, at 80 weeks, according to a company release. The stock rose 1%. American Airlines — Shares fell 8% after the airline cut its full-year profit outlook, citing rising fuel costs. ROLLINS — The pest control company’s stock fell about 10% after its second-quarter results fell short of Wall Street expectations. Rollins reported earnings of 30 cents per share on revenue of $1.08 billion, compared to the FactSet consensus of 34 cents per share and revenue of $1.09 billion. Management attributed the performance to slower growth in Parts Rollins’ residential pest control business. CSX — Shares of the railroad operator rose 5% after stronger-than-expected second-quarter results on strong demand for intermodal transportation and higher prices. CSX earned 54 cents a share, 2 cents more than analysts expected, according to FactSet. Revenue rose 10% to $3.94 billion, beating expectations of $3.89 billion. Hims & Hers — Shares rose 11% after a Food and Drug Administration panel voted to add the peptide BPC-157 to a list that would allow expansion of drug formulations. —CNBC’s Nick Wells, Fred Imbert, Tanaya Machel and Darla Mercado contributed reporting.
