Happy Monday. Spain won the World Cup yesterday in extra time. But the financial winner may be FIFA. FIFA is expected to earn more than $9 billion in revenue in 2026.

Stock futures are rising this morning as traders look to recover from a weak week.

Here are five important things investors need to know to start their trading day.

1. Increase strikes

The United States said the July 19 airstrike was aimed at “punishing” Iran for causing the first U.S. military fatality since the rekindling of hostilities with the Islamic Republic. Yesterday, the United States completed its ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, which is vying for maritime control of the Strait of Hormuz. A month after the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict, a series of attacks has raised concerns that the war is entering a new phase.

Here’s what you need to know:

The U.S. death toll from the Iran war rose to 17 over the weekend after the U.S. military announced three service members were killed in recent fighting.brent Oil prices rose about 16% last week, topping the $90 per barrel level. Global indicators regained some of their gains after Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson suggested Iran may move forward with negotiations with the United States. Rising fuel prices continue to hurt U.S. drivers. The national average price of regular gasoline rose above $4 a gallon again this morning, according to AAA. All three major indexes closed lower last week as investors felt pressure from rising oil prices. Stock futures are rising before the bell as Wall Street looks ahead to another week. Nearly half of U.S. voters said they don’t think it’s appropriate for the federal government to take stakes in U.S.-based companies, according to CNBC’s National Economic Survey. Only 19% approved investing in government stocks, while 32% were undecided.

As CNBC’s Matt Peterson writes, the poll’s results come after President Donald Trump’s administration struck deals with several big-name companies, including: intel. The White House has negotiated 30 ownership agreements worth a total of about $27 billion, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.

A CNBC survey also found that housing is the top political issue for young voters ahead of the midterm elections. While both Democratic and Republican lawmakers are celebrating the recent passage of bipartisan housing legislation, survey respondents said they have more confidence in Democrats on this issue.

3. Pay attention to the gaps

american airlines There is a margin gap compared to rivals united and delta. CEO Robert Isom wants to eliminate that.

Isom told CNBC’s Leslie Josephs that the company’s “long-term plans are definitely closing in on the margin gap” and that “we want to be the best in everything we do.” Last month, company executives outlined new initiatives such as making airport lounges larger and more upscale and updating the interiors of long-haul planes.

Isom did not provide a timeline for the plan, but said American Airlines should be considered a “premium global airline with the largest footprint in North America.”

4. Warsh GPT

Investment firms are scrambling to adapt as Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh reorganizes the central bank’s communications strategy. Some are turning to artificial intelligence to gain an edge.

F/m Investments recently released WarshGPT, an AI-powered tool that scans approximately 1,800 documents to provide users with an understanding of how central bank leaders think about the economy and monetary policy. Meanwhile, UBS has its own interactive dashboard that tracks the Fed’s policy trends. The bank told customers last month after Mr. Warsh’s first policy meeting as chairman that his policy comments were “overwhelmingly hawkish.”

Without significant forward guidance from the Fed, traders expect more market volatility in response to policy decisions and comments from Fed leaders.

5. Tell me the truth
