Will Smith’s name is involved in a legal battle between his ex Jada Pinkett Smith and ex-friend Bilal Salaam.
Salam (also known as Brother Bilal) is seeking testimony from the Oscar winner, accusing him of orchestrating a smear campaign against Pinkett Smith after an alleged confrontation at Smith’s 2021 birthday party, according to court documents obtained by E! news.
In an email exchange attached to a July 15 motion filed by Pinkett Smith’s lawyers, Salaam, who is representing her in the case, said she would like to devote the first 10 minutes of a 30-minute call with the actress’s attorney to responding to Smith’s request for removal.
However, Pinkett Smith’s attorney said in her filing that her client “denies all such allegations” from Salaam and insisted there was “nothing to discuss” regarding Smith.
“Mr. Smith is not a party to this lawsuit,” the attorney continued in an email to Salam. “To the extent that depositions are sought, applicable procedures for obtaining discovery from non-parties must be followed. To our knowledge, no subpoena has been served on Mr. Smith.”
