Tottenham defeated Everton 1-0, ending West Ham’s 14-year stay in the top division and securing their place in the Premier League.

West Ham United were relegated and Tottenham Hotspur survived on an emotional final day of the Premier League season. Pep Guardiola and Mohamed Salah have left the club after record-breaking performances in English football.

West Ham beat Leeds 3-0 on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to lift them out of the relegation zone, while fourth-to-last Tottenham also maintained a two-point lead over their London rivals with a 1-0 home win over Everton.

Spurs started the game against Everton, but realistically they only needed a draw to avoid relegation for the first time since 1977. They maintained a two-point difference with the Hammers, who had a significant advantage on goal difference.

Joao Parinha unleashed the mounting pressure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just before half-time, firing home after his header bounced off the post.

This marks the end of West Ham’s 14-year stay in the Premier League, and Tottenham’s 49th consecutive season in the Premier League.

Guardiola’s 10-year spell at Manchester City, which included six Premier League titles, ended in a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa, who featured substitute guards, two of Guardiola’s stalwarts, first Bernardo Silva and then John Stones.

Guardiola hugged them both and wiped their tears with his T-shirt.

At Liverpool, Salah received a standing ovation before kissing the Anfield turf as a second-half substitute for an assist in the 1-1 draw with Brentford in his 442nd and final game for the Reds.

The Egyptian winger finished his nine years with the Reds with 257 goals.

With this point, Liverpool will play in next season’s Champions League.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have already clinched the title with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, capping off their first Championship-winning campaign since 2004.

Sunderland defeated Chelsea 2-1 on Sunday to become only the fifth team in Premier League history to qualify for Europe in their first season after promotion.

Sunderland will play in the Europa League next season with Bournemouth, who drew 1-1 at Nottingham Forest, while Chelsea will miss out on Europe altogether, finishing 10th just 10 months after winning the Club World Cup.

8th place Brighton qualified for the Conference League despite losing 3-0 at home to Manchester United.

With talisman Bruno Fernandes scoring and registering his 21st assist of the season, United qualified for the Champions League, along with Champions Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Crystal Palace will also qualify for next season’s Europa League if they defeat Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final in Leipzig on Wednesday.

In Sunday’s other games, relegated sides Burnley and Wolves drew 1-1, while Fulham beat Newcastle 2-0.

Haaland becomes Premier League top scorer

Erling Haaland won his third Premier League Golden Boot in four seasons against Manchester City on Sunday, despite not playing in Guardiola’s farewell match at the Etihad after being left out of the squad.

Norwegian star Haaland scored 27 goals in 35 league games, but City fell just short of their goal of stopping Arsenal from winning the Premier League.

Haaland joins Alan Shearer and Harry Kane as three-time recipients of the award, and joins Salah and Thierry Henry as the only players to win the award four times in the Premier League era.

Brentford’s Igor Thiago finished second behind Haaland with 22 goals, earning him a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
