Brandon Clark’s former teammates are coming together following the 29-year-old NBA athlete’s tragic death.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clark,” the Memphis Grizzlies said of their star forward in a May 12 statement to E!. news. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person. His impact on our organization and the Memphis community will never be forgotten. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Clark was found dead in her San Fernando Valley home shortly after 5 p.m. on May 11 after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical emergency call, law enforcement officials told NBC4 Investigations.
Several members of the basketball world shared their grief following his unexpected death.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said on social media that he was “shocked to learn of the passing of Brandon Clark.” “One of the longest-tenured members of the Grizzlies, Brandon was a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with great passion and grit. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Brandon’s family, friends, and the Grizzlies organization.”
Teammate Ja Morant provided the assist on Instagram, writing, “This hurt BC. I love you Broski. It was too soon. This is bigger than basketball.” And even with Clark gone, Morant made it clear that the late forward is “still our goat.”
