“If you didn’t notice today, you probably didn’t notice that my knees and elbows are constantly clicking under this table. I’m clenching my arms the whole time,” she elaborated. “It’s because I’m on camera, I’m having conversations, and I’m trying not to get distracted. I’m really trying my best to keep all my visible tics in check this whole time while also having fun.”
In her words, “That’s pretty much how we as Tourette’s patients live our lives.”
But despite his struggles, Billy said he feels lucky to have the strength to overcome his tics.
“Some people don’t even have the privilege to oppress them in any way,” she acknowledged. “And not being able to understand that is really frustrating as a Tourette’s patient.”
Billie has long been open about living with Tourette’s disease, previously telling David Letterman in a 2022 interview that she was “very happy to talk about it.”
“I actually love answering questions about it because it’s very, very interesting,” she said during an appearance on My Next Guest Needs Not Introduction. “And I’m incredibly confused about it and can’t figure it out.”
