Spotify announced Thursday that its Interactive AI DJ feature now supports four additional languages: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. Previously, the ability to interactively request songs and get AI-powered audio descriptions was only available in English and Spanish.
According to the company, the AI DJs will have different names and personalities depending on their language: Maia, Ben, Alex, and Dani.
In addition to expanding support for new languages, the company also plans to bring this feature to Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, and Switzerland. AI DJ is currently available in over 75 countries.
The initial version of Spotify’s AI DJ simply provided song commentary while playing songs that users liked. But in recent years, the company has been trying to make the feature more interactive. In May 2025, the streaming service updated its features to allow users to chat with AI DJs and make requests to change the mood or genre. The company also added the ability to prompt AI DJs to play tracks, similar to how ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini work.
The company is adding more AI features to its app, including the ability to create custom playlists of songs and podcasts simply by describing what you want to listen to.
