“Do you know who I met at the rehab facility?” Langdon asks Robbie. “I’ve seen a lot of guys just like you. The only difference is they accepted help.”
But the most obvious moment is in the episode’s final moments, when it looks like the Pitt staff has finally reached out to Robbie.
Seeking a reprieve from surveillance, Robbie escapes to a nursery school and visits Baby Jane Doe, the infant abandoned in episode 1’s ED. This location itself was important to Robbie, as it was the location of his mental breakdown in season 1, and was one of the first signs that Robbie’s struggles were deeper than originally realized.
And what he said to Baby Jane is further proof. “I too was abandoned when I was 8 years old. But I got through all of that. You’re going to be okay too. I had a feeling it was going to be okay. Everything was going to be okay.”
The episode ends with Robbie cradling the baby and telling her, “You’ve got so many great things to see and so many people to love. It’s okay.”
Details remain unclear as to whether Robbie will ride his bike at the end of his shift. And Baby Jane Doe? Now, with Dana searching for a medical foster home throughout the episode, perhaps Robbie’s dreams are closer than he thinks.
