The exchange, which took place outside a London hotel, sparked countless rumors of a feud. First, Lovato was good friends with Taylor Swift. Lovato then went through a bad breakup with Joe Jonas, Swift went on to briefly date the Camp Rock star, and Gomez and Swift became close friends…discuss.
But when Lovato first went to rehab in late 2010 and her health was deteriorating, Gomez and Swift were among those who reached out to her. This fact helped to quash speculation that a member of Gomez’s team was between the two.
Gomez eventually admitted that she and Lovato had been on bad terms for some time and admitted her role in how it happened.
“I’ve known her since I was 7 years old and we had a falling out for a while,” the Bill Murder star told Seventeen in 2014, when she and Lovato were just a month apart and 21 years old. “She was going through a lot and I was young and confused. I processed it and said, ‘Okay, I don’t understand what she’s going through, so I’m just going to do this.'” I don’t think it’s unfair, but now I’m so happy to have her back in my life. ”
