Eugene Merman is recovering from a near-death experience.
The Bob’s Burgers star, who provides the voice of Eugene Belcher in more than 300 episodes of the popular animated series, was hospitalized after being pulled from the remains of a car crash in New Hampshire on March 31st.
“Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Millman’s rep told Variety in an April 1 statement. “He would like to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who helped save him. He is grateful that he is on the mend.”
The spokesperson added: “At this time, we ask that Eugene and his family respect their privacy as they focus on recovering from their injuries.”
The accident occurred around 11:55 a.m. when a 2026 Lucid Gravity driven by Millman, 51, crashed into a Bedford toll plaza, according to a New Hampshire State Police press release. Officials said the 911 caller reported the car was on fire and that “someone appeared to be trapped inside.”
As troopers rushed to the scene, a veteran state trooper assigned to provide security for New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte spotted the accident, jumped out and pulled Millman out of the burning car through the window, police said.
