Tom Brady talks about new relaxed diet and partnership with fast food

From Pizza Hut to Dunkin’, Tom Brady seems to be everywhere these days promoting food brands he might not have touched during his NFL days.

The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback follows a strict health-focused diet and famously called soda and sugary cereal “poison to kids.” But Brady said he softened his stance after retiring.

“I think there’s moderation in everything,” Brady told CNBC’s Alex Sherman in a recent interview about his partnership with Ferrero, one of the world’s largest candy makers. The full CNBC Sports interview with Brady will be published on Thursday.

“I think some people probably went too far with my strict lifestyle and diet,” he says. “I have kids, we have Halloween parties, we have birthday parties, we’re just like a normal family.”

Brady built his career on the pillars of health and longevity, allowing him to remain an elite soccer player until the age of 45. He is also the co-founder of TB12, a wellness brand focused on anti-inflammatory eating, and is known for unconventional recipes like avocado ice cream.

Brady recently discontinued the TB12 brand and merged it with the Nobull fitness brand. Right now, when it comes to advocacy, Brady said the focus is on creativity and connection.

“It’s a good script and script,” he said, adding that he also got a chance to interact with fans.

During this year’s Super Bowl, Brady debuted in both a Pizza Hut ad where he is tackled by an elderly woman while delivering a pizza, and a Dunkin’ ad that spoofs “Good Will Hunting.”

Brady and Ferrero’s partnership includes a campaign tied to the 2026 World Cup. The ad shows Brady taking a bite of a Chocolate Crunch bar and posing next to a trophy filled with the chocolatey sweet snack.

“I just want to go out and have a good time with people,” Brady said.

Still, Brady said she still aims to make healthy choices, but that can be more difficult when she’s attending a football game or traveling.

Despite hanging up his football cleats, Brady said he still trains frequently and stays hydrated.

“I also understand the realities of life,” he added. “I’ve always been very lucky in my life to have people make my food for me. I also had a nutritionist on my team, which was a blessing.”

“I know there are a lot of other people out there who work hard all year round to provide for their families, and I have a lot of respect for those people and the way they enjoy life,” Brady said.

When it comes to her family, Brady said she makes pancakes for her children using Nutella, another Ferrero product.

What about his own guilty pleasures? “Tic-tock,” Brady said. (It is another brand of Ferrero.)

“They’re all over my house and when I’m on the air,” he said.
