FIFA, world football’s governing body, and the Peace Commission have signed a partnership agreement to attract investment from world leaders and institutions for the sustainable development of conflict-affected areas through football.
The peace commission established under US President Donald Trump held its first meeting to focus on the Gaza Reconstruction Fund, which aims to rebuild the Gaza Strip after Hamas is disarmed.

The disarmament of Hamas fighters and the subsequent withdrawal of Israeli troops, the size of reconstruction funds, and the flow of humanitarian aid to war-torn populations are expected to pose significant challenges to the Council’s effectiveness in the coming months.
FIFA said its cooperation plan includes building 50 mini-pitches near schools and residential areas in the Gaza Strip, five full-size pitches across multiple districts, a state-of-the-art FIFA Academy and a new 20,000-seat national stadium.
President Trump said FIFA would raise $75 million for soccer-related projects in the Gaza Strip.
“Today, FIFA and the Peace Commission signed a landmark partnership agreement that will foster investment in football with the aim of supporting the post-conflict region’s recovery process,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.
“FIFA, with the support of the Peace Commission, will continue to advance this partnership, which is built to make an impact at every step.”
FIFA said the program will also focus on job creation, youth participation, organized leagues for boys and girls, community engagement and stimulating local commercial activity.
