There were plenty of chic makeup looks on the runways during New York Fashion Week, but one that particularly caught our trend-conscious eyes was the sleepy girl makeup look.
This look combines the no-makeup minimalism of the “clean girl” aesthetic with the romantic pink hues that have been on the rise lately. The looks featured in Sandy Liang’s Fall/Winter 2026 show were created by celebrity makeup artist Romy Soleimani. She is known for her fresh base, natural eyebrows, and pink cheeks.
She told ELLE that the look was inspired by Kristen Dunst in Sofia Coppola’s films and the image of a relaxing princess who “just woke up but was a little sleepy.” It’s a little more intentionally romantic than the “clean girl” look, which emphasizes delicate, feminine touches.
The “sleepy girl” trend can be recreated with the right application and shades. It features cool-toned pink cheeks up to the apples of the cheeks, a diffused soft brown at the waterline (or lower lash line), a hydrating base finished with essence and barrier cream, and a slightly glossy pink lip.
