2026 Olympics: Meet the athletes representing the United States aiming for gold at the Milan-Cortina Winter Games
The 2026 Olympics are finally here.
The Milan-Cortina Winter Games will be held from February 6th to 22nd and there will be plenty to see, with more than 2,800 athletes from over 90 countries competing for a chance to win gold.
In fact, this year’s sporting event, co-hosted by Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in northern Italy for the first time in Olympic history, will feature a record-breaking 116 events across 16 sports, including figure skating, ice hockey, snowboarding, curling and luge.
But even before the undoubtedly high-profile opening ceremony took place on February 7, there was already plenty of action on the ground during qualifying and training sessions.
Lindsey Vonn had a sweet reunion with fellow American skiers Isabella Wright and Mary Bocock on February 3 after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury three days earlier, receiving a warm welcome filled with hugs and high fives.
“I’ve worked very hard to come into this tournament in a much different capacity than I’ve been in the past,” Vonn told reporters during a press conference with her teammates, according to NBC News. “I know what my chances were before the accident, and I know my chances aren’t the same as they are today.”
