16. Iscove had to fight to keep the now-iconic prom scene in the film, but explained to Cosmo that she really “wanted a big dance number” despite the studio’s reservations. Solution: More Usher scenes where he was the school DJ (hey, it was the 90s!)
“So we went back and shot more of Usher’s (his) stuff, saying, ‘Remember what we taught you in dance class,’ or whatever,” he said. “We went back to Chicago, where Usher was making the album, and shot more scenes and added more intercuts.”
17. According to Prinze, one person who was not happy with the dance number was Dulé Hill, who was “upset that he couldn’t tap dance.”
“Dulé is a world-class tap dancer,” Prinze told The Daily Beast. “When we were shooting the volleyball scene on the beach, I heard him sliding on the trees and tapping his feet, and I said, ‘Are you tap dancing?’ And he said, ‘I’m a hoof, dude.’ And that’s how we bonded. We started going to a dance studio in Hollywood and tap dancing. we used to do that all the time. ”
18. This song was choreographed by Adam Shankman. He would go on to direct “A Walk to Remember,” “The Wedding Planner,” and “Hairspray,” among other films. Prinze and Shankman quickly hit it off while filming the film, and Shankman ended up playing a key role in Prinze’s wedding in 2002. As he told TODAY, “The choreographer of ‘She’s All That’ married my wife and me!”
