Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry falls off stage at Miss Universe pageant and leaves on stretcher

Miss Mexico received the flowers.

On November 21st, Fatima Bosch Fernandez was crowned Miss Universe, followed by Miss Thailand Praviner Singh (29 years old) as runner-up, followed by Miss Venezuela Stefani Adriana Abasari Nacer (25 years old) in third place.

The path to the crown was not an easy one. At the beginning of the pageant, the 25-year-old was publicly criticized by pageant executive Nawat Isaragrisi, who called her an “idiot” for not fulfilling her duties during the sash ceremony. As she was escorted away by security, her fellow contestants banded together and staged a strike.

“I just want to let my country know. I’m not afraid to make my voice heard,” she said in an interview. Translated from Spanish and shared on Instagram. “This place is stronger than ever. I have a purpose. I have something to say.”

“I’m not a doll to put makeup on, style, and dress up,” she continued. “I came here to be a voice for all the women and all the girls fighting for the cause and to let my country know that I am fully committed to it.”
